BOAD attended the inauguration ceremony for the Adzope-Yakasse Attobrou road in Côte d’Ivoire.
Adzope, 3 August 2019. Mr. Jean Marcel Aboumon, Chief of BOAD Resident Mission in Côte d’Ivoire, attended the inauguration ceremony for the Adzope-Yakasse Attobrou road, in the presence of His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
For a total pretax cost of XOF15,722 M, the Adzopé-Yakasse Attobrou road upgrading and asphalting project was cofinanced by BOAD to the tune XOF10 billion, EBID and FAIR as well as the Ivorian Government. It is as part of the Côte d’Ivoire’s national development plan (PND) and has materialized into the construction and asphalt concrete surfacing of 25 km of road connecting two towns over a width of 7 m. The construction of the infrastructure also gave rise to other support actions with high socio-economic impact, including the construction at Adzopé of an administrative building for one-stop shop in the industrial area and a cultural and sports complex for the youth, as well as the construction of urban thoroughfares in two communities. The new road will help facilitate considerably trade and marketing of crop production between the county of Adzopé, considered as an area with high agricultural potential and other parts of the country.
The total commitments by BOAD in Côte d’Ivoire, all sectors combined, amount to XOF1,103 billion. In the basic infrastructure sector, including road transport facilities, the Bank’s support stands at XOF319 billion, representing about 30% of overall financing in the country.
