XOF20 billion for the construction of Boulevard des Tansoba in Ouagadougou

logoLomé, 24 June 2016. Mr. Christian Adovelande, President of West African Development Bank (BOAD), and Mrs. Hadizatou Rosine Coulibaly-Sori, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy, Finance and Development, signed a loan agreement involving XOF20 billion for the partial construction of Boulevard des Tansoba in Ouagadougou.

This loan will make it possible to finance the rehabilitation and widening in 2×2 way-lanes of the south-east bypass over a stretch of about 6.5 km. This road connects two major roads at domestic and regional level, including the Fada Ngourma road leading to Niger and that of Pô connecting Burkina with Ghana.

This operation is part of an overall project for the construction of Boulevard des Tansoba, which involves also the construction and asphalting of the north bypass in 2×2 way-lanes over a stretch of about 10.7 km. This route will run across several fast-growing neighbourhoods. The road facilities envisaged will improve free flow of people and goods while making it possible to evacuate goods from and towards other inland communities and neighbouring countries.

The loan facility brings to XOF122 billion the total amount of BOAD’s financial assistance to road infrastructure sector in Burkina Faso, and to XOF359 billion, the Bank’s cumulative commitments to all sectors combined in the country.
