CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: WAA LOCAL EXPERTS

Notice of expression of interest

The West African Alliance on carbon markets and carbon finance (WAA) was officially launched in 2017 as a regional platform aimed at fostering carbon markets and result-based climate finance in west Africa. The West African Alliance’s vision is that West African countries have the institutional capacity and support network for long-term engagement with carbon markets and climate finance.

Context for hiring local experts

Now in its third phase of implementation (2024-2028), the Alliance builds on the success of its two previous funding phases (2017-2020; 2020-2024), to deepen incountry work as well as sub-regional cooperation. A key priority remains supporting WAA focal points in advancing national Article 6 readiness, which continues to be a central objective of the Alliance. This requires a collaborative and localised approach that empowers member countries to address their unique challenges and seize opportunities while simultaneously fostering regional and sub-regional synergies.
Against this backdrop, the process of hiring local experts represents a strategic step toward realising this vision. The selected experts will be well-positioned to work alongside partners and the Alliance Secretariat in identifying needs and ensuring that Article 6 readiness activities are effectively integrated into national strategies while fostering enhanced opportunities for multi-country collaboration and engagement.
