AFFERMAGE

Affermage is the rental of rural land in return for a fee known as “fermage”, which is set according to commodity prices and is payable either in cash or in kind, depending on the terms of the lease;

It is also the act of granting to a person, in return for a fee, the use of a thing for advertising purposes (e.g. leasing of newspaper pages, billboards, etc.);

Affermage is also the name given to a category of administrative contracts by which the administration grants a private individual (i) the right to levy taxes on payment of a lump sum; (ii) the management of an industrial and commercial public service, with the difference between affermage and concession in that the farmer is remunerated on a lump-sum basis and is not required to provide the necessary installations or works.
