CONVENTION ON BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY (CDB)

It is an international treaty adopted at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, with three (3) main aims: the conservation of biodiversity; the sustainable use of its components; and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources. It meets every two (2) years at Conferences of the Parties to take stock of progress in biodiversity protection.
