WADB and the Société Générale Group undertake to cooperate in the pursuit of their respective mandates in the WAEMU zone.

Abidjan, June 15, 2022. Serge EKUE, President of the Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD) and Georges WEGA, Managing Director of International Banking Networks, Africa, Mediterranean Basin and Overseas Region of the Société Générale Group, have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a framework for cooperation in the pursuit of their respective mandates in the UEMOA zone.

This partnership framework will enable us to develop the synergies needed to provide appropriate responses to development issues in member countries. It will focus on two specific pillars in particular: (i) upstream information sharing and the establishment of a sustained commercial dialogue between the two institutions’ teams with a view to identifying opportunities for co-financing, co-arranging, advising and structuring projects with sovereign and non-sovereign clients and (ii) the sharing of experience in the form of cooperation between experts and technicians, joint project appraisal and evaluation, and the organization of seminars or training courses in one or other of our institutions.

For the record, BOAD and the Société Générale Group have already been working together for several years on projects of common interest, notably in the areas of financing syndication and guarantee operations.
