Objectives

  • Contribute to a better coverage of electricity demand and a more secure supply of electricity in Senegal.

    Specific objectives :

    • Increase installed capacity by 30 MWp.
    • Contribute to achieving the target of 40% renewable energy in Senegal’s energy mix by 2030.
    • Provide 2,295,000 inhabitants with greater access to electricity by 2025.

  • Shareholders' equity : 9030 M FCFA
  • BOAD : 15000 M FCFA
  • Local banks : 12220 M FCFA

The project involves the construction and operation of a 30 MWp solar photovoltaic power plant with a 15 MW/45 MWh battery energy storage system in Niakhar, Senegal, and the installation of associated transmission infrastructure to connect the plant to the Senelec interconnected grid.

Expected results :

  • Contribution to national electricity distribution: 63.24 GWh of electricity guaranteed annually.
  • Improved environment and quality of life: increased access to electricity for 2,295,000 inhabitants; reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 32,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
  • Contribution to wealth creation: 3,244 M FCFA of indirect and induced added value per year; 893 M FCFA of indirect and induced tax revenues per year.
